To educate our community to change the perception of poverty and deliver innovative services that equip individuals and families to thrive.
The Metropolitan Development Council (MDC) of Tacoma provides services focused on improving the health and well-being of very low income individuals.
MDC is a vital community resource for Tacoma and Pierce County. Founded in 1964 as a non-profit Community Action Agency. For most of our more than 50 year history, MDC has responded to community needs by providing services that address the needs of low-income families.
Our residents with behavioral health issues receive assessments, counseling and treatment. MDC provides professional therapists for mental health and substance abuse issues.
Our staff refer residents to the Behavioral Health program and ongoing support parallel to the treatment plan.
